12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
Speaker: Federico Spedalieri (ISI-USC)
Technical Host: Diego Dalvit
TOPIC: Recent results on the D-Wave processor: physics and applications
Abstract
The D-Wave processor is a programmable quantum device designed to perform quantum annealing in order to solve combinatorial optimization problems. I will present some results obtained at the Information Sciences Institute (USC) that currently houses a 512-qubit Vesuvius processor. I will present tests we performed in order to probe the quantum behavior of the device, in particular two approaches aimed at showing entanglement using the limited information we can extract from the processor during the annealing. I will also discuss some issues related to the processor's limited connectivity and control precision, that need to be overcome in order to take advantage of the device in practical applications, and present some ongoing work in this direction.
