TOPIC: Information-theoretic treatment of tripartite systems and quantum channels
Abstract
What sorts of correlations are allowable in tripartite quantum systems? How is a quantum channel's ability to transmit information related to that of the complementary quantum channel? These two questions will be addressed in this talk, and because of an isomorphism between the static and dynamic views, they are in some sense, the same question. Using measures with the form of the Holevo quantity, we find a set of quantitative rules that constrain the presence and absence of information, allowing us to generalize some "all-or-nothing" theorems in the literature to the case of partial information. A main result is a general formulation of the uncertainty principle for POVMs with a simple proof, slightly extending a recent strong inequality from Berta et al., Nature Physics (2010).
