TOPIC: Two challenges to a quantum theory of the universe
Abstract
I review two recent developments that present additional changes to developing a quantum theory of the universe. 1) The Clock Ambiguity (as discussed by Iglesias and myself) and 2) The Born Rule Crisis (as discussed by Page, and also Srednicki, Hartle and others). I discuss how these problems are avoided in “laboratory” applications of quantum theory and how lessons learned from those applications might inform the cosmological case.
