Quantum Macroscopic Coherence and(/or) Topological Order in Josephson Junction Networks.

Abstract

The key idea underlying the talk is that by pertinently engineering the topology and geometry of a Josephson network one may induce - and, somewhat, control- the emergence of novel quantum states, which may then allow for a richer (respect to other quantum devices) set of possible quantum operations. First of all, we shall focus on the interesting properties emerging in Josephson networks with non-conventional architectures showing, by means of explicit examples, how the network's topology may either lead to novel and unexpected coherent phenomena - such as Bose Einstein Condensation - or be responsible for taming de-coherence in quantum Josephson devices. By the end of the talk, we shall highlight a microscopic theory supporting a BEC superconductivity scenario in pertinent Josephson networks.
