Equilibrium and nonequilibrium phenomena in the BCS-BEC crossover of atomic Fermi gases.

Abstract

An introductory review is first given about some of the relevant experimental facts and of the basic theoretical frameworks used to describe the BCS-BEC crossover physics of atomic Fermi gases with Feshbach resonances. In particular, an analysis is presented about the key constraints that different theories should satisfy to embody the limiting behaviours and to compare with current experiments. Two aspects are addressed along these lines. The issue of universality near resonance is considered within the resonance superfluidity theory, and the question of non-equilibrium effects is discussed by comparing the results of dynamical mean-field calculations with more recent experimental data on the momentum distribution.
