Physics of Single, Trapped Neutral Atoms

Abstract

I will present an overview of various experimental approaches for creating traps with one or a few neutral atoms, as well as their application to quantum information and control. I will also describe our progress towards constructing such a trap, which we will use to study the continuously observed dynamics of a single atom, and interests in doing so, which range from quantum control to quantum nonlinear dynamics.
